Peat Dykes BESS

Peat Dykes Energy Storage is a proposed 100-megawatt (MW) battery energy storage system (BESS) to be located on fields near Wilsden, Bradford, West Yorkshire, adjacent to the West Bradford substation.

Project overview

Storing clean energy today, powering a net-zero tomorrow

Peat Dykes Energy Storage development will store clean, renewable energy for export into the national electricity system, helping to power homes and businesses across the country. The facility will store excess power and release it back into the grid during periods of high demand, helping to stabilise the electricity grid and support the UK’s transition to a net-zero future, ensuring energy independence during a time of significant international uncertainty.

Peat Dykes Energy Storage will be temporary in nature, with an anticipated lifespan of 40 years, after which the site will be decommissioned and restored to its original state. Brockwell Energy has a proven track record of developing and delivering high-quality projects, and the development will be designed to the highest standards, complying with all regulations on noise, fire prevention, and safety.

Peat Dykes Energy Storage will also include extensive landscaping, providing new habitats, visual screening, and delivering significant biodiversity benefits alongside the development.
