North Kyle Wind Farm

North Kyle Wind Farm is located within North Kyle Forest in East Ayrshire, Scotland, transforming a former coal mining site into a hub for renewable energy and environmental restoration.

Project overview

From coalfields to clean energy

The North Kyle Wind Farm is a landmark renewable energy project within North Kyle Forest, East Ayrshire. Proposed by Brockwell Energy in 2019 and approved by Scottish Ministers in 2021, the project addresses the legacy of the coal industry by funding site restoration and supporting community regeneration. Optimised in 2023 to maximise efficiency, North Kyle combines sustainable energy generation with tangible benefits for local communities and the environment.

Turbine Delivery Schedule

As part of our ongoing construction and development, wind turbine components will be delivered to the site according to the schedule outlined below. These deliveries are carefully planned to ensure minimal disruption while keeping the project on track.

Please note: These times are subject to change without prior notice due to factors such as weather conditions, logistical adjustments, and operational requirements. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to deliver a more sustainable future.

Environmental focus

North Kyle Wind Farm is a powerful example of turning environmental challenges into opportunities. Built on a former coal mining site, the project is restoring damaged landscapes by removing unsightly haul roads, bunds, and backfill, while reintroducing topsoil to enable future planting. Alongside generating clean energy, the wind farm contributes to Scotland’s Net Zero targets by producing 220.5 MW of renewable power - enough for approximately 183,000 households annually.

With £600,000 committed to planting native broadleaf trees and ongoing efforts to enhance biodiversity, North Kyle demonstrates how renewable energy projects can deliver meaningful environmental benefits while transforming legacy industrial sites into thriving, sustainable landscapes.
