Brockwell Energy Limited is pleased to announce that North Kyle Wind Farm has fulfilled it first major community funding milestone contribution to the East Ayrshire’s 9CC Group (“9CCG”), a group set up to represent the nine community councils that represent communities surrounding the North Kyle Wind Project.
The 9CCG has been set by the communities to take control of and coordinate the dissemination of community benefit that will arise from the cluster of wind farms being developed in the surrounding area.
Stephen McCarron, the Chief Operating officer of the 9CCG commented:
The amount of community benefit that will arise over the next 40 years will easily exceed £150m and will be game changing. The hills around our communities are ideal for hosting a large cluster of wind schemes that of significant national importance in achieving climate change goals. The communities have recognised that it is essential to pool the monies arising from various schemes and to control, plan and coordinate how that money is spent to ensure that lasting legacy improvements are delivered.
Brockwell Energy has already provided £200,000 of funding to help the 9CCG with set up costs and had committed an additional £3,140,000 of funding to allow the 9CCG to start disseminating funds ahead of the normal community benefit monies flowing once the scheme is constructed and commissioned.
