Brockwell Energy is excited to announce a transformative partnership with EDF, securing a seven-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the North Kyle onshore wind farm, a flagship renewable energy project in East Ayrshire, Scotland.
Under the agreement, EDF will offtake 100% of the clean energy produced by the 220.5MW wind farm, scheduled to begin commercial operations in early 2025. Once operational, North Kyle will generate approximately 630GWh annually—enough to power 217,000 homes—making a significant contribution to Scotland’s renewable energy targets and net-zero ambitions.
This pioneering project is situated on a former coal mining site, integrating environmental restoration with renewable energy development. Beyond delivering clean energy, the project will reinvest in the community through site restoration, enhanced public access, and a groundbreaking community benefit program.
Tom Abbott, Head of PPA at EDF, commented,
This agreement demonstrates our commitment to supporting new renewable energy projects. It’s a privilege to contribute to Britain’s Net Zero goals through this partnership with Brockwell Energy.
David Surtees, Commercial Manager at Brockwell Energy, added,
EDF’s expertise and responsiveness were instrumental in structuring a deal that meets the needs of both our equity and debt providers. Their support has been invaluable in achieving this milestone.
This collaboration reflects Brockwell Energy’s broader vision of revitalising former industrial sites to deliver sustainable, impactful energy solutions.
