Brockwell Energy were delighted to welcome Fife Council’s Economic Development Team, InvestFife, to the Westfield Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) site on 15 June 2022. The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the progress made on the project, outline the key next steps, and share the broader ambitions for the Westfield ERF as a cornerstone of sustainable energy development in the region.
The day began with a presentation highlighting opportunities for potential energy offtakers and detailing the vision of the Westfield site as a power and heat destination for future tenants. Following the presentation, the InvestFife team enjoyed a guided tour of the construction site, offering valuable context and an appreciation of the project’s scale.
The InvestFife team commented:
InvestFife is dedicated to creating good working relationships with key business investors, whether they are new businesses or established companies in Fife. As a Local Authority committed to supporting innovation in carbon reduction, we also have a strong and growing profile of low-carbon sector businesses in Fife, a range of site development locations, and world-class training and research facilities. It was great to hear from Brockwell Energy and gain insight into key activities to date, as well as how the ambition of Westfield becoming a power and heat destination in Fife will become a reality.
Alan Trueman, Project Manager at Brockwell Energy, remarked:
It was a pleasure to deepen our relationship with the InvestFife team. They are excellent ambassadors for the local area’s capabilities and are keen to see as much local involvement in the project as possible. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with InvestFife and our EPC contractor, HZI, to maximise the local economy’s benefit from this exciting project that has catalysed wider developments at the Westfield site.
