Brockwell Energy is proud to celebrate two significant achievements at the Westfield Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) in Fife as the project enters its final phase of construction.
The site has surpassed one million person-hours of construction without a single Loss Time Injury (LTI), highlighting the unwavering commitment of the team to safety and the well-being of all workers. This milestone places Westfield ERF among the top-performing large-scale construction projects for safety.
Earlier this year, the project also achieved the successful hydrotesting of its 79 MWth boiler on the first attempt - a testament to the exceptional craftsmanship of the fabricator and the rigorous quality assurance processes implemented on-site.
Sean McManus, Deputy Project Manager for Brockwell Energy, remarked;
Reaching one million person-hours without any LTIs is a remarkable accomplishment that reflects the dedication and professionalism of everyone involved in this project. It’s a milestone that we can all be proud of, the success in this case stemming from a positive and proactive safety culture embedded on site.
The successful first-time hydrotesting of the boiler is evidence of the first-class fabrication and quality assurance practices embedded on the Westfield project, with the boiler having been a key focus area. Brockwell’s ethos is to put quality at the centre of everything we do, and the build out of Westfield ERF is testament to that.
As construction progresses, the project is moving towards completing the mechanical and electrical installations, with commissioning on the horizon.
Brockwell Energy remains committed to delivering sustainable and innovative energy solutions, supporting Scotland’s renewable energy targets and net-zero ambitions.
